My Mother spent the day today with her friend sewing pillowcases for a quilting retreat they are going on in April. When they signed up for the retreat they were given the fabric to make up pillowcases which will be donated to a women's shelter. Ummmm...my Mother doesn't quilt, she's just along for the fun weekend.
When I was little, my Mother used to sew Barbie clothes for me (I can't even remember that) and she used to get very upset when I would trade her beautiful sewn Barbie clothes for the store bought clothes my friends had (I don't remember that either). I guess I don't blame her.
Anyways, here are the beautiful pillowcases my Mother made today (thanks Dianne for e-mailing me the pictures!!)
I'm thinking I might need some of these beautiful pillowcases. Apparently they have French seams which took a while to figure out. My Mother is coming for a visit next weekend, I'm thinking I'll get a lesson on pillowcases from her.
Edit: My Mother isn't quite as talented as I thought. She only made one of the pillowecases (the bottom one). Her friend Dianne made the other.

my mom use to sew things for us too. I remembered she made matching pillowcases, blankets and curtains for my room when i was a wee feli. But now, I dont think she remembers any of that anymore.
ha ha ha -- i like your edited note!
my grandmother made a few barbie clothes for my sister and i when we where younger. some very funky 70's style. i'll have to see if i can find them. (although my sister probably has them.)
My mom used to make Barbie clothes for us girls, too. I'm sure she would have been sad if we had traded them! But I don't think any of my friends had Barbies...
KirstenCan has a tutorial for a pillowcase like the one you showed. It doesn't have French Seams (although I'm not even sure what those are...) but all the seams along the border are hidden inside. Let me know if you want the link.
