Another geo-weekend

We wore out freezer paper stencilled shirts on Saturday and they were quite a hit! Actually, it was a great day at the Great Canadian Outdoors Expo. We did geocaching demonstrations for about 50 4-H teens. Some were keen, some not-so-much, but I think everyone had fun.

After we were all done, we walked around the show for a while. The smell of the funnel cakes was intoxicating, but we resisted.

We didn't resist at the fresh-cut fries!! Yes, Lera, I had french fries (peer pressure). They were pretty darned yummy!

I have to say that for the first time this weekend it really did feel like summer. It was so nice to be outside in the sunshine. It was hot but not humid. A perfect summer day.

Yesterday I got back to work on the challenge. I made this tote with the handles attached to the outside. I'm not really sure it was worth all the extra effort.

I've used up all but a little bit of the popsicle fabric and almost all of the pink polka dotted fabric on this tote.

I've been wanting to make a new camera case for a while now. I really had no idea how to do it so I made a long zippered pouch with a handle. I used heavy fleecy interfacing on the outer fabric AND the lining. It is super stiff and I know my camera will be safe. Honestly though, it might be overkill. I think if I ever make another I'll use the fleece on the outer fabric and regular interfacing on the lining.

Oh, that IS a picture of my camera. The batteries died mid photo shoot so I had to use the camera from school (which I have at home for the summer now for safe keeping).

Is it summer yet???

I'm in the middle of packing up the library, all 10,000+ books to prepare for some major renovations that will be taking place this summer. I should clarify that...I'm in the middle of supervising many wonderful students who are packing the 10,000+ books. I think I've packed 6 boxes so far.

Anyways, I'm a wee bit stressed out at school these days. Today I had an incident that was the straw that broke the camel's back that made me totally grumpy.

To add to my grumpiness it's hot and HUMID here today. Apparently yesterday was a record-breaking temperature day and today we have a smog alert. If it's like this already I'm very afraid of what the summer has in store!

I came home and went through my pillocase stash, because of course, I NEEDED to make some tote bags. One very broken sewing machine needle later and I have these:

On a happier note, yesterday these arrived in the mail:

A couple of weeks back I was the VERY lucky winner of a contest at Sew, Mama, Sew! Thank you so much Kristen for my amazing prize! I'm going to have to think about the best way to use it. I've already placed my first of what I'm sure will be many orders at her store.

A Busy Sunday

Does anyone else HATE thinking of a title for their posts?? It almost makes me not want to post some days.

Anyways, yesterday Joe and our friend went Geocaching. They were going to head out and do some more challenging caches than I would ever do, so I got to stay home and sew.

I've had Creative Little Daisy's Craft Apron Tutorial on my to-do list for the longest time. I decided this weekend to finally try it.

First of all, let me say the tutorial is fantastic. The fact that mine has several oopsies in it is NOT the fault of the tutorial, it's the fault of the seamstress.

The apron took the better part of the day to complete, but guess what else I had time for??? More totes.

I must remember to watch 24 tonight. I've missed two of the past three weeks because I've completely forgot about it. Not good. Tonight I WILL remember.
