Work is killing me and it will continue to kill me until after Halloween. I run an extremely successful reading program out of the library. Last year almost 1/4 of the school was involved and this year looks like it's going to be even more than that. I started the program four years ago (with the help of a teacher who has since left the school) and it has since spread to three other high schools and three other elementary schools in the area. It has taken on a life of it's own!!! I have another meeting next week where me and two other teachers are presenting the idea to a group of 96 elementary school librarians, with the hope being that they jump on board and run a similar program.
The Kick-Off party to the program is on Halloween at lunch in the library. My "to-do" list is about 8 pages (typed) long of things that need to be done before then. For the past two days I've had my trusty little helpers helping me make 250 bookmarks to add to the goodie bags that participants will receive on the day of the party. At least I'm finally using up a BIT of my scrapbooking supplies.
Some of the things I need to do are shop for, and make, 250 goodie bags. Photocopy the program book. Organize a pizza lunch for 250 people. Organize a t-shirt logo contest. Beg for and wrap door prizes. Send out invitations to students and admin ( I used the Halloween cards I made as invitations to staff and consultants). And come up with a very clever Halloween costume for myself.
Here's a book display that I put together in about five minutes:
My evenings have been consumed with school stuff, unfortunately.
Having said that, I've made a TON of cards. In between all the madness, they seem to be the one thing that I can start and stop in a short period of time. I have several Christmas projects that I have to get to, and I have everything I need to make myself a new fall bag when I get the time.

Ummm it sounds like you need an assistant! That's a lot on your plate - good luck over then next few weeks. It must be rewarding to know that something you started is so successful and meaningful.
Wow, you sure have a lot going on! Kudos to you for taking on such a task. Good luck ;-)
Wow! It sounds like a lot of work, but also a great program. It's such a good idea to do the kick off on Halloween. Get the kids excited. Have you ever lookat at Oriental Trading Company? http://www.orientaltrading.com/
They have good stuff for making googie bags, even goodie bags made up which you can just add to. Save yourself some work!
sounds like you've been busy!!!
and, in my opinion, a new fall bag is a must! and might need to be pushed to the top of the to-do list!
Good to hear from you again. I was getting worried! Glad to hear you are just super busy.
Congrats on your successful reading program. I can't think of much that is more important than reading. Keep us posted on your project and photos when you can!
