Back to School

The library underwent major renovations this summer. Thanks to our awesome caretaking staff at school most of the furniture and all of the boxes have been brought back into the library.

I walked into the library this morning and saw this:

I felt so overwhelmed that I ended up sitting and reading a magazine for about half an hour before I could even begin to think about where to start and how to tackle this mammoth job of unpacking. Seriously, admist all the chaos I sat and read a magazine!!!

Anyways, to my shock and suprise, period one a class appeared to help me unpack the boxes. I was very hesitant about letting them, but trust me, that was the only way it was going to get done!!!! Another class showed up later in the day and by the time I left work the shelves looked like this:

The books are a mess. They need to be put in order and straightened up, but at least they are on the proper shelves and I can tidy them up after everything is unpacked.

At this rate we should be completely unpacked by Thursday!!!!! Trust me, I can't wait!!

Anyways, I'm completely exhausted. Funnily, they don't let me take an afternoon nap when I'm at work. I have to go make dinner and then I think I need to flop on the couch for the rest of the night.

Ha! I don't get to nap at work either :) I feel your pain and desire to escape into a magazine. But wasn't it wonderful when the cavalry arrived :)

I did the same thing when I first walked into my classroom last Monday. Sat. Read. Cut out laminating.
Felt behind before I even started. I'm better now.

Your library looked very similar to our classrooms (2) this morning. Our program split in two and half (including me) moved to a new school. The kids didn't seem to mind and we managed to work around the organized chaos!!

You know what? I read all my blogs on bloglines first thing when I get into work and only after that I start my work. shhhh.... dun tell the boss

I think all jobs should include an afternoon nap time. So many fewer people would "go postal" that way...

Glad to see you got some help!

Those kids sure are productive. I hope they finish by Thursday. That would be a huge help!

I can imagine that you are overwhelmed by that stack of boxes! Sheesh!

You ought to just crawl among those boxes and take a snooze today--you deserve it!

Wow - what a difference! But I know what you mean. If my surroundings aren't organized, I don't FEEL organized inside. You've got your work cut out for you! And seriously, why don't these places let people nap? Don't they know we'd be MUCH more productive?

Book shifts. Shudder. Book shifts when the books were put in boxes. Shudder even harder. You have my sympathy -- use those classes full of kids! Good luck with the unpacking!
