New Year's day I always find myself thinking about resolutions and things that I would like to change in the new year. I've never ever made a list of resolutions before because I know that as soon as I commit to something in "ink" that it won't happen.
I am very committed to learning about my new camera. I was surfing around looking for tips and tricks and I stumbled across Project 365. The idea is that you take one photo a day for a year. I am really excited about this and I plan to start today.
Fear not. I will not pollute my blog with boring photos every day. I think I'll actually learn how to use Flickr and make up a set or group or whatever it's called where I upload my daily photos. I'm thinking that updating to a "Pro" account might be called for.
Another goal I have for 2008 is to learn how to make soap. I love handmade soap and it's my favourite thing to purchase from Etsy. I've already bought several books and I'm gathering the supplies to make it. I feel almost ready to attempt my first batch.
First thing this morning, while running on less than 4 hours sleep, I decided it was time to sew the cover for my 2008 planner. I am a list maker and the Mead yearly planner with a page-a-day helps me keep my life somewhat organized. I don't like the plain plastic covers so each year I make a fabric cover for it.
Happy 2008 everyone!

I absolutely love your planner cover! I, too, have a designated notebook for all of my lists. Maybe it needs a good cover?!
Happy New Year!
Great idea, with the fabric cover! Now what you need is a snazzy polymer clay covered pen to stick in the pocket ;-)
Happy New Year! Good luck with the resolutions - I don't even bother, since they usually last all of a week with me...
Happy New Year Karyn!
The planner cover is great! Think I'll have to get myself one of those planners. It's be nice to have all my lists in one place. :)
First of all: I can't believe you BUY soap!!!!!!!!!! Tell me if you need some. On the other hand, start making soap SOON! It is fun.
Second: Why didn't you tell me you were crafty today? Now I feel I need to go sew up my shirt! It's been sitting for a few days.
Happy New Year! Great new notebook cover. It's really cute and does look much more fun than just a store bought calendar! The picture taking project sounds like a good idea. I am not a good photographer at all! I think I've improved since I dont' cut heads off anymore. LOL! Really! I do hope you'll post about the soap making. It sounds like fun and I've never tried it. BTW ... the chocolate covered pretzels look perfect to me!
Flickr is really easy! If you can work a blog you can definitely work Flickr.
I hope you are planning to post your soap making adventures here! That is something I have always wanted to try but I have been a little scared of the lye-reaction!
Happy New Year! Wishing you the happiest days in 2008...and the craftiest ;o) LOVE the planner cover. ((HUGS))
Love the notebook cover! Like you -- I'm not much on resolutions. The only one I've ever managed to keep totally was the year I resolved not to make any more resolutions! Goals are a different thing though -- goals are a good thing so I think I'm going to sit down and post some of those! Happy New Year to you -- may it bring love, joy and laughter to you!
Wishing you all the best in 2008 my friend!
ahh! to have the courage to try soap... great idea with the planner cover.
i have the first model of the canon digital rebel. LOVE IT. the only way i could love it more was a) if it was able to take more consecutive pictures (as the later models)
b) if i actually made the time to learn to take "real" pictures rather than just auto taking them all.
thanks for the 365 tip.
Such a pretty cover!!
I think I may be getting a birthday camera (keeping fingers crossed)same as yours--well that's the one I want. If I get one, I'll have to do the picture thing a day too!
Love it!!
Congratulations on your new camera! Be sure and post some of your 365 day photos! Great notebook.
Good luck with Project365. I tried it last year and did really well until the weeks before my wedding. That was in April, so I only did a Project99, really. But I had fun while it lasted.
