Getting back to the swing of things

First of all, while I was away the mailman left me the greatest package!!!!! I was fortunate enough to win a prize from Felicia of Fluffy Flowers. It's all her fault that I've hardly done any crafting/sewing. I've been GLUED to the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich that Felicia recommended. Anyways, she had a give-away on her blog for the coolest snowglobe ever!!! I'm sure it's because of all the whining I did that I won, but I'm ok with that.

Not only did she send the world's greatest snowglobe (which is going on my desk at school in September), but she sent a beautiful crocheted fluffy flower, a bookmark and a pin that says "Stephanie Pick Ranger", although I'm still voting for Joe :)

A little added bonus to winning this prize is that I now have a snowglobe with Joe's name in it in a heart. My Joe has NO IDEA that it's from the books I've been reading, total brownie points for me :) :)

It's been a bit of an emotional roller-coaster since we got back (stop laughing Lera). I'm having cat issues, I'll leave it at that. I did manage to finish the pouches that I embellished while at the cottage. Here's a couple of my favourites.

I have no idea what I'm going to work on next. I think tonight I'll do a little brainstorming.

Also, don't forget that the Use What You Have Challenge is winding up. Sadly, I think I'm going to be using what I have for quite a bit longer. Why is my fabric stash still huge??????? Actually, I think at the end of the month I'm going to seriously go through it and just purge what I know I'll never use and be done with it.

I believe I may have just fainted a little bit. PURGE and STASH in the same sentence? I'm shocked. Disappointed, even. First this crazy challenge thingy, and now this? You need an intervention, and quickly. *shakes head*
(Seriously: I've been using up some of the stuff I've amassed *cough* but come to find out, I still always have to run out to the fabric store to get backing fabric or elastic or something else to be able to finish th eproject.)

Purging is good. So is making big projects - like a big quilt backed with nice fabric instead of muslin. How about a table cloth? :o)

You might even offer up some fabric on your blog. I've done that before - I think I was purging all my purple ribbon from my purple phase. :o)

(I wasn't laughing. I promise.)

Love the pouches. The button flowers are very pretty.

I still have things to add to the challenge. I've been making things from my stash, just not adding to flickr.

Felicia is a sweetie! And what goodies you got! LOVE the new pouches--they are sweet! Before you get rid of anything, stop by and see me--a crafting venture is in the works that needs many hands--so your extras may be put to good use yet! Stop by and see me when you can. Happy Days & Hugs :o)

I think it was Alicia (Rosey Posey) who said that fabric has a shelf life, what you think you cannot use because you love it so much you will not like anymore in a year or so. Totally true. Purge if you need to! It's fine! give it to quilters who make charity quilts or the thrift or freecyle and be done with what you no longer like.

I hope all the cat issues are okay!

I think I am going to try to continue using what I have too after the month is over. Although there is some fabric over at Sew, Mama, Sew that I am dying to have:) I like the new pouches!
